How does Reactive Armor Work?

ra    Reactive armor is armor plating on a military vehicle which is designed to react to the projectile or warhead which impacts with it in order to reduce damage to the vehicle and effects on the crew members.

There are several kinds of reactive armor in use as of this date. The  first type of reactive armor is explosive reactive armor. This armor contains an explosive charge between layers of armor which explodes on contact with the projectile thus minimizing its effects. Self limiting reactive armor operates in much the same way.

Both non-energetic reactive armor, and non-explosive reactive armor operate much the same way except that they have a material such as rubber between armored plates to smother the effects of the projectile.
Last is electric reactive armor  which has an electric charge. The electric charge should cause the warhead to ignite or vaporize the projectile before it has a real chance of causing damage.
Our tankers ring and bradley crewman ring customers are familiar with the different types of reactive armor and can give you much better details about how they function.
