All surge troops have been removed from the country even as Afghan forces struggle to take control. Their ranks have been compromised by the presence of Taliban members and sympathizers which seek to undermine everything that they do.
We have pretty much established control over most of the country but it is shaky at best. Even if the Afghan Security Forces had not been compromised by the presence of the Taliban they would have a hard time holding on to gains.Their situation seems to be pretty shaky to me. I think that once we exit the country that we don't send troops back again.
The most recent incidents are a spasm of deadly attacks on U.S. and NATO forces by Afghan soldiers and police. I believe that cultural differences are the cause of many of these attacks but we have recently found that the Taliban is much more involved than we thought. The Taliban although they have been weakened remains a force to be reckoned with.
I hold the Pakistani Government responsible for the deaths of many of our custom military ring customers who serve in the Army and all other branches of the military who are serving in Afghanistan. Their lack of action in many situations has made it easy for the Taliban to conduct deadly military operations.
