The Release of A Guantanimo Prisoner may come back to Bite Us

US intelligence seems to be moving towards believing that al-Qaeda may be responsible for the rash of attacks that took place on US consulates around the world. The attacks were linked to a video that provoked Muslims all over the world. The ploy worked and caused simultaneous attacks around the world and a rising wave of anti American sentiment.

One thing that I have to give al-Qaeda credit for is that they know how to stir up anti US sentiment among Islamic countries around the world. This is not the first time that this type of incident has occurred. Al-Qaeda runs a continuous anti US propaganda campaign that is like dry wood waiting for a small spark to set it off. I have written many posts about the fact that al-Qaeda has conducted terror campaigns on innocent muslim civilians but no complaints are ever made publicly.

Sufyan Ben Qumu who was once considered a "threat" to the United States, is believed to have orchestrated or at least been involved in the Benghazi rocket-propelled grenade attack that killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other State Department officials on the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Isn't it strange that the dates worked out. In my opinion this was a retaliation provoked by al-Qaeda.

Qumu was held in the U.S. military's Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba until the Bush administration released him to Libya Sept. 28, 2007, on the condition Libya keep him in jail. Well Libya released him which I'm sure was the original plan and he is out and free to create havoc wherever he possibly can.

It is just about impossible to make a good decision in the world situation because it seems that just about everything that we do comes back to bite us on the butt. In the case of the embassy attacks our best reaction would be not to react with more force. We have to be careful because we have military ring customers in all branches of service serving all over the world. Their safety is paramount. We can't risk sneak attacks on them so diplomacy is utmost. Sometimes wisdom is much better than force.
