Iran Continues to Beef up its Weapons

Iranian military leaders gave details of a new long-range drone and test fired four anti-ship missiles in a prelude to upcoming naval war games planned in an apparent response to U.S.-led warship drills in the Persian Gulf. They are making their own show of force but i don't see why they are developing drones unless they think that they may be able to use them to fire missiles at US Navy ships.

They are apparantly attempting to show that they are capable of defending themselves against any attack from the US and Israel. The need to do so seems very probable and is gaining in probability every day. Personally I believe that there is more talk than actual capability but I do believe that they will be able to do some damage in the event of a new Gulf conflict.

I don't have much respect for their military as I used to know it because I know that their ground forces were basically inept. The reason that I say this is because they fought the Iraqis for eight years and couldn't defeat them. The Iraqi Army was shown to be inept during Operation Desert Storm.

Iranian President Ahmadinejad told reporters in New York that Iran was fully ready to defend itself from attacks. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, also warned that U.S. bases in the Gulf could face retaliatory strikes if Israel attacks Iran's nuclear sites. This may or may not be true. I'm sure that they have good defensive capabilities which would be more than enough against any other country but I don't think that they have enough to defend themselves from the US and Israel.

Personally I can't see where producing a drone will do them much good if they percieve that an attack is coming from the US or Israel. They need to develop defensive weapons that will prevent their air space from being invaded and to stop attacking aircraft from hitting targets inside of Iran. Drones just don't do this. They are good for spying or conducting small isolated attacks on small targets but not much else.

The fact that they are making unwise decisions about how to prevent, stop, or counter an outside attack demonstrates that they are not as capable as they think they are. Our custom military ring customers in all branches of the armed services are much more than capable of completing an offensive operation in Iran.
