Pfc Manning's Lawyers are Lying Big Time

Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, center, is escorted into a courthouse in Fort Meade, Md., in November.   I understand that the job of the defense lawyer is to give his client the best possible chance of  being released from jail and exonerated from all charges. It seems that sometimes justice should matter. Lawyers are paid to give their clients the best possible defense but to clients and lawyers alike this often means just getting them off even though they are as guilty as sin.

The biggest victim in all of this is the innocent people who were hurt by the crime. I always thought that justice was supposed to make things right for people who have been victimized by others. If this guy is allowed to get away scott free what does that say about the rights of the people whose lives were endangered or maybe even lost.

Defense attorneys at the WikiLeaks trial of U.S Army Pfc. Bradley Manning have asked a military judge to block emails found on Osama bin Laden's hard drives. The prosecution wants to use the emails found at the bin Laden's compound in Pakistan as evidence that Manning aided the enemy which could result in a life sentence if he is convicted. When I saw this my first reaction was aw come on. How in the world can you be serious?

Prosecutors said they want to call nine witnesses to testify to the chain of custody from bin Laden's hard drive to an FBI agent to a Quantico, Va., laboratory for forensic analysis. Those emails have not been made public, and the defense is expected to challenge their authenticity. Of course the defense should challenge their authenticity but attempting to block their admission is no less than treason.

Defense attorney David Coombs said the government must prove that Manning knew that the files he reportedly leaked could potentially have fallen into the hands of an enemy. Now am I the only one or does that sound just absolutely stupid to you also? If he released the material to be exposed to the public who in the world was he expecting to get it?

The next lie that they are telling is that foot dragging by the prosecution violated their client's right to a speedy trial.

Sometimes I have to wonder exactly who is the biggest criminal in this case, Pfc Manning or his lawyer. After they have tried convicted and executed Pfc Manning they need to put his lawyer on trial for the great travesty that he is committing by even arguing this case the way that he is doing.
